Fest of Ale and Wine, Clarksville, Indiana, June 6, 2009
Posted by admin
Beers and wines from more than 30 microbreweries and wineries are set for sampling at the fourth annual Fest of Ale in Clarksville, Ind., on June 6 from 3 to 7 p.m.

Because of the six-fold growth of the event, this year's gathering is scheduled for the grounds of St. Anthony of Padua Church (320 N. Sherwood Drive).

"The first one drew about 75 people, and last year we had about 450," said Todd Antz, owner of Keg Liquors, Fest of Ale organizer. "Initially, it was purely beer geeks coming, but the crowds are a lot more diverse now because there's such increased awareness of great beer."

Antz grew up in Southern Indiana but moved to Phoenix for work after college. When he returned to Clarksville five years ago, he was shocked by the strong interest in microbrewing and sought a way to celebrate that.
