Set to Tantalize Taste Buds Father’s Day Week
More than 10,000 expected to toast region’s largest annual epicurean extravaganza

HOUSTON (April 1, 2010) … Just in time for Father’s Day, the 6th Annual Wine & Food Week, the largest, most comprehensive epicurean adventure from Aspen to New Orleans brings together renowned chefs to showcase their culinary expertise partnered with more than 500 wines at more than 40 sensational events. Held June 14 - 20, 2010, in locations throughout the Houston area, this year’s Official Wine Wizard is Eric Arnold, Deputy Lifestyle Editor of Forbes.
Live chef demonstrations, hands-on classes and a wine auction are but a few of the exceptional offerings. Music, entertainment, shopping, and wine education seminars for the novice to the enthusiast top off the week of casual to fine wine and dine experiences.

The big three events include the H-E-B Wine Walk @ Market Street, a taste and stroll experience in a European-style center featuring wine and light bites at more than 40 retail stores.

Sips, Suds & Sliders is Friday’s new Texas-size celebration featuring live music, specialty beers, Texas wines and a gourmet slider competition. The ultimate adult evening is the Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting & Texas Monthly Chef Showcase where guests sample delectable cuisine and hundreds of wines as chefs representing more than 50 restaurants compete for Wine & Food Week's Waterford Crystal Chef of Chefs Award and a $5,000+ prize package. To complete the evening, the epicurean experience culminates with the “Just Desserts” contest presented by My Table, a confectionary competition to crown the night’s dessert extraordinaire.

Distinguished food judges include Teresa Byrne-Dodge, Editor and Publisher of My Table magazine, former Chef of Chefs Award Winner Jose Duarte of Taranta, Valentino
Restauranteur Piero Selvaggio, and Texas Monthly Restaurant Critic Patricia Sharpe who will present the Waterford Crystal Chef of Chefs Award.

Chefs representing more than 50 restaurants from throughout Texas and beyond will fly in to showcase their culinary talents and compete for Wine & Food Week's Waterford Crystal Chef of Chefs Award. As the first destination culinary and wine event in the country to go "Green", chefs will prepare their selections focusing on sustainable products that are certain to tantalize the taste buds of participants. Enjoy their talents first hand with presentations on the Texas Monthly Stage where one chef will win top honors and a $5,000+ prize package.

Participants can bid on once-in-a-lifetime experiences where 100 percent of the revenues of the Live Auction benefit the culinary arts program at Houston Community College Systems. The Silent Auction boasts sections of large format wines, wine flights, wine dinner experiences and more to benefit Swing for a Cure. This Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting & Texas Monthly Chef Showcase has gained a national reputation as being one of the "grandest" wine and food events in the country.
