Produced by Slow Food Central Jersey and

Sponsored by NJN Public Radio and Television and Wegmans

New Jersey has world-class restaurants, great wineries and an amazing wealth of farm-fresh products, meats, seafood, honey, cheeses and more. Now the abundance of the Garden State will be celebrated in one place at the 2010 East Coast Food & Wine Festival.

The third annual East Coast Food and Wine Festival will be held in Pennington, New Jersey at Hopewell Valley Vineyards on June 26 & 27, 2010, from Noon to 5:00 p.m.

The East Coast Food and Wine Festival features the best restaurants and the most celebrated wineries of the area. Attendees can sample dishes prepared with the season’s locally grown vegetables, fruits, seafood, chicken, meats and more dished up by some of the most exciting chefs in the State. Participating restaurants include: Brother’s Moon (Hopewell), Cherry Grove Farm (local cheeses), High Street Grill (Mt. Holly), Matt’s Red Rooster Grill (Flemington), Tre Piani (Princeton Forrestal Village) and desserts from Bent Spoon (Princeton gelato).

In addition, professional wineries from the State will be offering samples of hundreds of wines grown and produced near by. Attendees can sample wines to pair with the food from award-winning New Jersey wineries including host Hopewell Valley Vineyards (Pennington), Alba Vineyard (Finesville), Unionville Vineyards (Ringoes), Cape May Winery (Cape May), and Laurita Vineyards (New Egypt).

A popular feature of the East Coast Food and Wine Festival is the Farmer’s Market, where attendees can purchase locally made cheeses, salami, organic produce, honey, meats, seafood, flowers and much more – all grown and/or produced in the Garden State -- to enjoy at the festival or to take home with them.

What sets this event apart from others is the focus on education. There are cooking demonstrations, wine presentations, cook book authors, winery tours and much, much more.

Already confirmed speakers for 2010 include TV and Radio Chef Michael Colameco (Colameco’s Food Show on PBS and WOR-Radio’s Food Talk and author of the Mike Colameco’s Food Lovers Guide to NYC), TV Chef Mary Ann Esposito (Ciao Italia on PBS), TV chef Barbara Seelig-Brown (Stress Free Cooking on PBS), Pete Genovese (Star Ledger), and Wegman’s chefs; and wine experts Mark Phillips (Enjoying Wine with Mark Phillips on PBS and DVD), Dr. Gary Pavlis (Rutgers Cooperative Extension), Carlo DeVito (Wineries of the East Coast), Phil Ward, and Zita Keeley (All I Do Is Wine). Additional nationally-known presenters will be announced shortly.

Unlike other food and wine events, attendance is capped at a few thousand a day, allowing attendees to ask questions, get close to the action and even talk one-on-one with the celebrities. And unlike other events, entrance to all of the cooking demos and wine presentations are included in the very reasonable entrance fee.

Tickets are $35 for a one day ticket purchased in advance and $40 at the door; and $55 for a two day ticket purchased in advance and $60 at the door. Tickets include parking, wine tasting, entrance into all the seminars and cooking demos, winery tours, a reusable six bottle bag, and an etched wine glass. Food is available at a nominal fee.
