Michael Pollan and Dan Barber Featured at a Benefit for Just Food Celebrating Joan Dye Gussow, Sustainable Food Matriarch

New York (March 17, 2010) – Michael Pollan and Dan Barber, in a benefit for Just Food, will be celebrating the life and work of food activist, author, academic and farmer Joan Dye Gussow, on Sunday April 25th, at Sotheby’s in New York City. Just Food is the leader in connecting local farms to NYC neighborhoods and communities.

Other friends of Joan participating in the celebration include Brian Halweil and Peter Hoffman and Anna Lappe, who will be host for the evening. Local fresh, seasonal and sustainable green food will be provided by Great Performances and wine by the Long Island Wine Counsel.

The highly acclaimed nutritionist is author, coauthor or editor of a number of articles and several books. Her 2001 book, “This Organic Life: Confessions of a Suburban Homesteader,” is based on the lessons learned from decades of working toward growing her own.
