AG Kawamura, former Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture to speak about local and sustainable farming
Slow Food Orange County will host its third annual barbeque in Bommer Canyon, Irvine, California. This family-friendly event celebrates fresh, local and sustainable food in the historic Bommer Canyon, which is generally not open to the public.
Executive Chef Ryan Adams of Sorrento Grille in Laguna Beach and Slow Food Orange County team members will prepare dinner. In the spirit of sustainability and low carbon footprint, guests are asked to bring their own individual wine glasses and eating utensils.
AG Kawamura, former Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture, will also speak. His recent efforts include Orange County Produce to ensure Orange County residents have access to local and fresh produce with a commitment to the land, environment and the community.
Sponsors include Whole Foods Market, Sorrento Girlle, Mary's Free Range Chicken, Quivira Wine, Stone Brewing Co. and Nika Purified Water.
