DESCRIPTION
Open since 1947, The Elbow Room is a veritable Shadyside institution. Locals linger over large glasses of wine at the bar or nosh upon quintessential casual-dining favorites on the cozy, fenced-in patio out back. The classic American menu offers something for everyone with fried zucchini, baked goat cheese and noteworthy onion rings leading off. Oversized "Salad Bowls" are particularly popular, such as the crab and asparagus salad or the signature Hot Chicken Salad, with grilled chicken, mixed greens, cheddar cheese and - unsurprisingly - French fries, Pittsburgh's ubiquitous condiment of choice. Whether you're ordering a 10-ounce burger, the Big Fish Sandwich or even one of the handful of pasta dishes, a side of sweet potato fries goes well with anything. Sunday brunch offers omelets, Benedicts and specialties such as cinnamon French toast and bangers and mash.
"The chilled-out bar here is a great place to catch up with a friend or make a new one. The full menu is mostly standard American fare with some great seafood specials, and the patio out back is one of Pittsburgh's hidden gems - private, lovely and almost woodsy."
- Pittsburgh City Paper
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Late-night Fri-Sat. Sun brunch 11 am-2 pm.
