DESCRIPTION
Church and beer unite - yes, church and beer - at Lawrenceville's The Church Brew Works. Originally constructed in 1902 as St. John the Baptist Church, changing neighborhood demographics forced it to shut down in 1993. Three years later, however, it was resurrected as a brewpub, maintaining its original character with pews for seating, the altar for the brew house, and the original organ pipes proudly on display against the front walls. The Church Brew Works serves a variety of colorfully named house brews in addition to its extensive menu of upscale pub food, including wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, entrée salads and dishes such as beer-steamed mussels and wild boar cassoulet.
"Excellent wood-fired brick-oven pizza. The traditional cheese or pepperoni is a sure bet, but get crazy with your selection. You won't be disappointed."
- Iron City Eats blog, Feb. 1, 2011
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Pizza available until midnight Fri-Sat.
