DESCRIPTION

When a coffeehouse's name means "cup of gold," it must be worth checking out, and Tazza D'Oro Cafe & Espresso Bar certainly lives up to its name. It is popular as a coffeehouse, a cafe and much more. The Italian-inspired café has a patio seating area and overstuffed armchairs. Walking in, you can immediately see that it's something of a community hangout. Regulars send postcards from their travels to decorate the walls, and, based on a request from several neighborhood children, there's a candy stand by the front door. The coffee here is only kept for two weeks after it has been roasted to ensure a fresh product, and after it's brewed, it never sits in a pot longer than two hours. The menu has an assortment of hot and cold sandwiches, salads, and pastries. Recommendations include the prosciutto and fresh mozzarella panini, the grilled eggplant panini and the grilled muffuletta. Pastries are delivered every day by the affiliated bakery.

"Clearly, this isn't just any coffee shop."
- China Millman, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, June 25, 2009

No alcohol available. Open 7 am-7 pm Mon-Fri, 8 am-7 pm Sat-Sun.
