DESCRIPTION
Although of Irish-German descent, executive chef/owner Jimmy Reiland's Amel's Restaurant offers an extensive menu emphasizing Mediterranean-, Greek-, Middle Eastern-influenced fare. Owned and operated by the Reiland family since 1968, the restaurant itself dates to 1952 and features antiques such as a curved glass divider for the bar that comes from an 1880s Irish pub. Specialties include seafood and all variations of lamb, including chops, gyros, shish kabobs and Lamb Jasmine (lamb scaloppine with spinach, artichokes, tomato and feta in a tomato rosemary glaze). Starters include stuffed grape leaves, hummus and spanakopita.
