617-661-0505  •  $$$
ADDRESS: 134 Hampshire St, Inman Square, Cambridge, MA 02139
CUISINE: Turkish, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Farm to Table, Vegetarian
FEATURES: Handicap Access, Patio Seating, Smoke Free, Vegetarian Friendly
DESCRIPTION
In opening Oleana in 2001, James Beard Foundation award-winning chef/owner Ana Sortun created a neighborhood restaurant that is, in a word, beautiful. A romantic dining room, filled during the winter months with a cozy blaze from the stove, along with the vine-wrapped patio make an ideal setting for indulging in the belly-warming, gourmet Mediterranean, Turkish and Middle Eastern menu. A vegetarian tasting menu is available and during the growing season, the produce comes from the owners' farm, Siena Farms, in Sudbury. Dessert is a must at Oleana: The accomplished and inventive pastry chef puts together sophisticated selections, such as the signature baked Alaska and house-made seasonal ice creams.
"It is the rare restaurant that makes it through a dozen years in business and still requires advance planning to get a reservation. Chef-owner Ana Sortun’s Oleana is one. What keeps it relevant? Invigorating, interesting spices, food that is flavorful but not too heavy, an adventurous wine list, and a pastry program that doesn’t get short shrift."
