DESCRIPTION
Danton's might be seen as an updated version of the classic Houston seafood restaurant: the setting is nice, but unpretentious. There are plenty of raw Gulf oysters served on the half shell. The fryer gets a workout with shrimp and other Gulf denizens, and there are more than a few dishes from south Louisiana. A separate room holds an oyster bar where the impeccably fresh Gulf oysters are shucked right in front of patrons. These are sourced in nearby Galveston and are likely the most flavorful Gulf oysters served in town. The star, though, is the dark-rouxed rich seafood gumbo filled with impeccably fresh shrimp, crab and the plump oysters. In addition, the rest of the present-day area seafood favorites are represented (which area residents would agree includes crawfish) and well executed.
"No matter what time of year it is, don’t miss the wonderful gumbo."
Houston Press
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Kids' menu. Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner Mon–Sat. Sun blues brunch 11 am–4 pm.
