DESCRIPTION
Holding a special place in the hearts of many longtime Nashville residents, inviting Sylvan Park neighborhood restaurant McCabe Pub, a fixture since 1982, befits its West Side digs. It's definitely roll-up-your-sleeves working class with an air of hard-earned prosperity, not unlike the McCabe Golf Course across the street, which is Nashville's busiest public course. McCabe's is great for just-off-the-golf-course as well as just-off-work, with several TV screens tuned continuously to sports and a wraparound bar with ample seating. Pan-fried trout, fried catfish and a chicken breast topped with bacon and cheddar cheese lead the short list of entrées from longtime chef Ernie Fleming, which come with primo Mexican cornbread or cheese toast on the side. That same bacon-and-cheddar combo tops the pub's signature burger, although you may want to try the pork chop or meat loaf sandwiches, which may be the best such renditions in town. Ditto the hand-cut fries. The house-made desserts - pies, cakes (the coconut cake routinely sells out) and apple or cherry crunch - come recommended in the unlikely event that you've left room. (Why not get them to go?) Limited outdoor patio seating.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner Mon-Sat. Closed Sun.
